Taking Good Care Of Black Bamboo Plants In Pots

By Anna Butler

Nowadays, houses are being decorated by bamboo plants that have been planted in pots. Decorations are enhanced by the availability of different colors of the container. Its placement helps in preventing it spread as weed in the nearby environment. Keeping Black Bamboo Plants in Pots helps in making the environment cool and at the same time making it look beautiful. While in containers, it can be moved from place to another to meet the demand of owner

It is true that almost all species of bamboo can do well when grown in pots. However some species may require more care and attention than others. It important to know the amount of time available to provide efficient care for the species you intend to grow. Some species also grow more vigorously than others. This indicates that some pots become more root bound quicker than others depending on type of species present.

Different species require different amount of sunlight. If it is designed to be placed under roof choose one that requires less sunlight. It is important to consider the space available, if space is small choose that grows at a slower rate. For those to be placed indoor, one needs to go for shorter species because the space upward is normally limited.

Running bamboos grows rapidly and becomes very tall after a short time. The roots grow too at a fast rate a condition that may make them occupy almost the entire space within the vessel. This reduces the nutrients available to it, undermining its healthy condition. On the other hand, clumping types grow slowly and may take relatively longer period of time for the container to become root bound.

Once a containerized type becomes roots bound, an appropriate precautionary measure need to be taken. One may either decide to repot it or divide it for its betterment. Dividing is mainly carried out during the winter and the spring to prohibit it from dying. This is the most appropriate time because the rate of growth is at minimum.

When performing reporting, the containers are exchanged so as to create enough room for the growing bamboo. When the weather is very cold, one needs to insulate the vessel to help it cope with the changing temperatures. Frequent watering may save it from drying. Plant lose excess water during the summer, and add as much water as possible otherwise it might dry up.

Water it during the winter and in summer too. During summer it loses so much water through evaporation and it is therefore recommended to keep watering for its betterment. Root ball helps in determining its future size. A smaller one results into plants that are small and short.

Choose a vessel that will make the whole thing stable. Buy a shorter one and also a wide one. One with these features will be much stable and cannot topple over easily. Make a point of putting heavy materials such as the rocks at the bottom to make it more stable. The choice may also be greatly influenced by the color of the vessel.
