Struggling With A Flooded Basement Will Not Ever Be A Pleasant Situation

By Kevin Weiss

Have you ever walked into you house and saw that there is a whole lot of water lying on the floor? This will be the worst thing that could ever happen to you, you might think. Having a flooded basement might even be the worst thing to happen.

However, what is the reason for the amount of water that is lying like a dam at the bottom floor of your house? What could have gone wrong and where does all this water come from all of a sudden. You have not noticed and water seeping through the wall before this whole ordeal. Something must have gone terribly wrong. There are a few things that could have gone wrong. This might have been there for a while but there were no visible signs.

That basically means that the ground on which your house was built might be running at a slope and all the water probably ran under the house. The other reason could be that the walls and the floors of your house have not been sealed off properly. This will also allow for water to enter the house from outside.

Usually the drain of a house will be installed under the house. The problem will then be if this drain becomes full or if the drainage system has not been installed properly. The water will start running over and then will fill this part of your house.

If there is any kind of water pipes or hot water geysers that has been installed under the house, this could also be the issue. If any of these pipes of these geysers for warm water start leaking or bursts, it will also be the cause for this huge amount of water that is filling up the bottom part of your house. None of these this could be prevented, especially if there has been some heavy rain in your area.

The water from the rain might have been running down and into your house if the hot water geysers and the pipes was not the problem. The main thing is that you need to establish the main cause of this disaster that hit you home. You need to take photos of any damage that might have happened and that was caused by the water. It will obviously be some kind of water damage. You need to make some kind of inventory of everything that got damaged. Once you have the list as well as the photos of the things that got damaged you can then contact your insurance company.

They would ask you to send the documentation through. They will then assess the damage and they will then do one of two things. The first thing that they could do is that they will pay the amount that it would cost you to have everything restored.

You can however claim that from the insurance company as well. They will replace the pipes and the geyser. They will also be able to get someone that is qualified to come and replace the pipes and geyser for you.
