Gifts For The Recent Retiree

By Elba Fenwick

These days' people are working longer and longer, so when a person finally is able to retire, this is absolutely a cause for celebration. Retirement is a huge reward for someone who has worked for decades and is ready to devote all their timef to their own interests and hobbies. If you have such as friend, here are a few gift ideas to consider and a few party planning tips.

A gift basket is always a great idea, especially chocolate gift baskets; after all chocolate is always a big hit. These will be loaded with plenty of treats to keep your retiree happy for many days. However, a better idea might be to send a Chocolate Pizza and tub of Peanut Butter Wings from Chocolate Pizza Company. This unique option is even packed and shipped in an actual pizza box, so even the packaging is amazing.

You can order your Chocolate Pizza with a dark chocolate or milk chocolate crust and choose from many different toppings. The Peanut Butter Wings are a blend of crispy potato chips and creamy peanut butter dipped into milk or dark chocolate. You also can select from several chocolate gift baskets that contain slices of Chocolate Pizza, tubs of Peanut Wings and items such as chocolate covered cookies and other specialty chocolates.

Often retirees are looking forward to pursuing their hobbies so any gift that encourages this will be a good option. For instance a fisherman would probably love fishing gear, and a golfer would enjoy golfing gadgets, expensive golf balls or a great new golf hat or shirt. If they are looking forward to reading or cooking, get a gift card for a bookstore so they can stock up on cooking manuals and the latest novels.

If you are planning a party, have guests bring gifts that either fit the person's hobbies or perhaps prepare them for retirement. There are some funny books on the market for retirees, and even Dr. Seuss penned a work for the retired crowd entitled "You're Only Old Once!" There are also t-shirts, mugs and hats with various retirement themes and funny sayings that guests could bring.

Serve up plenty of food and drink for the party, but don't feel like a full, multi-course dinner is necessary. People tend to have more fun at these events when you can serve yourself from a buffet and simply mingle with everyone else. Decorate the party room with pictures of the retiree and designate a spot where guests can fill a guest book with a special memory or some sage advice about retirement. Oh, don't forget about dessert. Just head to the Chocolate Pizza Company website and select some gourmet Chocolate Pizza, a few tubs of Peanut Butter Wings and a selection of gourmet chocolates and you are all set.
