If you are expecting a baby, you are probably already considering what you are going to name this new life. One of the most common questions of expectant parents is what are the most popular baby names in the USA for this year? Here are a few of the trends.

Hipsters - While hipsters usually avoid the mainstream to embrace their individuality, these options are growing in popularity. They are trendy, artsy and likely to ensure your child grows up to be in the cool crowd. Examples for boys include Atticus, Bryon, Gus, and Otis. Female options include Alice, Clementine, Stella and Piper.

Female Child, Male Name - While the trend is not new, it is enjoying a growing popularity. Perhaps it has to do with what is happening with the children of celebrities that reported on the internet. Some of the possibilities include Arlo, Maxwell, Hunter Dylan and Riley.

The Spicy Child - To find options that are becoming more popular, you may just need to look in your spice cabinet. Parents are selecting herbs instead of trees and flowers. Anise, Lavender, Bay, and Saffron are just a few examples.

Character Traits for Boys - Although Grace, Faith, and Hope have used for females for girls, the trend has recently been applied to boys. Virtuous selections may reflect the parent's expectation for the little guy. Examples include Justice, Righteous, Valor and Ernest just to name a few.

Old fashioned girls - Many little girls are receiving old fashioned tags for a name. While Ruby and Anna have enjoyed many years of popularity, the adventuresome are looking at genealogy as a source for a name for the little girl. Expect to hear Dorothy, Edith, Ivy, Joy and Sylvia more than in past years.

After the Pope - The election of Pope Francis, the People's Pope. Along with his declaration, that moms should be free to breastfeed in church and his decision to baptize babies of parents not married in the Roman Catholic Church, have made him adored by parents. Frank and Francis are expected to become more common for boys.

Spell it and add a "Y" or two - The end of the alphabet is becoming more used in monikers for babies. Choices beginning with a "Z" were more common for the last few years, but the new trend is to add a "Y" in the spelling. Examples include Adin, Layla, Nathan, Maya, and Rylee.

Pop Culture - The highly successful Game of Thrones has also lent its character names to the nursery. This movie has popularized the use of Bran, Khaleesi, Theron and Tyrion. Other highly ranked television shows, movies, and books also contribute to the pool

The Royal Baby - While the US has not been a part of Britain for over 230 years. The people continue to enamor with royalty, especially the new royal baby, Prince George, who is likely to someday, become King George. This fascination has revived the use of options gathered from the House of Windsor, including Harry, Charles, William and Louis for boys. Girls may be named Victoria, Elizabeth or Anne due to the renewed interest.
