Activities Your Dog Will Enjoy

By Garrett McMahan

It can be a good idea if you offer a dog some fun activities and tricks because dogs love to play and also like to be given attention always. Each dog can be different though, such as in their physical strengths and also limitations and dogs also have different temperaments. Here are some fun suggestions for your dogs especially that you are looking for ways to keep him happy and healthy.

Dog training can be a good way to spend more time with your dog especially when still a puppy or you have a new dog at home, although it may not seem to be a fun activity at all. You will love and enjoy your dog more especially when already behaving properly, and these are among the many benefits you get with proper dog training. You will learn more about your dog's personality, and this you get with the dog training. Your dog will love the time you spend during the training because they love being with you, and during this training, you will be able to build a strong bond between you and the dog.

If you aren't sure how to go about training, you can take a dog training class or perhaps opt for a set of dog training DVDs, such as The Dog's Way. This dog training program teaches owners how to train their pets in 12 easy lessons. You can teach your dog helpful skills such as sitting, staying, coming when called, proper leash walking and curb troublesome issues such as excessive barking or having a pet that darts out your front door. This dog training system also includes a workbook and reminder cards that will make it easy for you to keep up with training while you are out on a walk or at the park.

Dogs can be unique individually and all levels of exercises you give should fit because all dogs need exercises. Some dogs enjoy long walks and runs while others need the slower pace because it has to be noted that there are dogs with more stamina than others. You need to make sure of the path you go when walking with the dog in order to fit his age and physical condition, but it has to be noted also that the daily walks will be good for both of you.

There are also other tricks and activities they enjoy like playing at home. Your pet dog may like tugging on toys or like chasing balls or run after a stuffed toy you tossed. You need to set a special time every day for him to play. Dogs usually love to play chase or hide and seek, and these are good for both the body and brain. There are also food puzzle toys that are fun activities for dogs, and these are the kinds of toys that you place a treat and your dog will find ways to get this treat. There are also chew toys that are good for dogs but you have to make sure that these toys are safe.

For a healthy dog with a great deal of energy, you also could consider agility training or Frisbee play. Many cities and towns have agility clubs, agility classes and Frisbee dog clubs, and this can be a great way to provide fun exercise for your dog as well as getting out and meeting other dog owners. Proper dog training is a good prerequisite for your dog, and it is always wise to discuss your pet's health with a veterinarian before starting a rigorous exercise program.
