How Manhattan Hardwood Floor Inlays Spruce Up Flooring Areas

By Malinda Klosterman

Older mansions showcase some of the most magnificent wooden floors. These intricately designed installations took incredible amounts of patience, time, coordination, vision, and money. Today, thanks to the precision of laser cutting devices that follow computer programs to create the designs, Manhattan NY hardwood floor inlays are much more affordable.

These products may be added to wooden flooring that is already existing. Honduran Mahogany, Quilted or Curly Maple, Brazilian Cherry, Maple and Ebony, are just a few of the types of exotic wood species that might be used to make these parts. Regardless of what they are constructed from, the pieces are usually only about 5/16" thick, though slices may be even thinner.

What are some of the many types of inlays available?

The amazing array of available borders can give wooden flooring an incredible appeal. They are capable of transforming parquet, intricate designs, or even the simplest layout into a uniquely stylized piece of art.

Medallion pieces look amazing in entrance halls - They're available in many sizes, looks, and styles. Imagine a custom dolphin or 4-foot diameter compass rose greeting guests as they arrive. Your floor can call to mind a Venetian palace or a Renaissance castle! When choosing a wood medallion, a standard measurement would be approximately 1/3 of the room width.

Corner border accents, such as roses, compasses, hearts, diamonds, or geometric shapes, can make this traditionally harsh joining point more interesting.

A parquet look is done by placing small sections of wood into mosaic inspired decorative patterns instead of putting the pieces in rows as usual. The designs of this technique tend to be geometrical and angular, with the most popular choice being herringbone.

Using these inlaid products to enhance flooring space, is a decision one will cherish for years. They bring a bit of class, sophistication, and glamour to any area within a home.
