Just make sure that you make a balance and adjust it often to avoid these circumstances on your crafts.

Make it shine. One way to make these items as good as new is to always make it shine. You can do this by using a clean cloth and wipe it all over the body. You could also use some oil or other cleaning solution but make sure that such is appropriate for the furniture in order to avoid damage. Doing it often will surely make these things prettier than ever.
